“Being a leader, to me, is less about having authority and more about
having responsibility. Responsibility to my team, our mission, our
community—and maybe most importantly, to my values.”
Leadership Path: “I’ve served as president-elect and will be stepping up as president
this year.”
Gregory Davis, Public Information Of昀椀cer, City of Ocala, Ocala Chapter
Class of 2024
“Leadership isn’t always about being the most popular person in the
room. Sometimes, it means making tough calls. But it also means
leading with empathy, listening with understanding and putting yourself
in others’ shoes.”
Leadership Path: “I was sworn in as president of the Ocala Chapter that same day,
just two months after starting my new role as the public information of昀椀cer for the
City of Ocala. At the same time, I am entering my third year as a professor at the
University of Florida.”
Darlene Montano, Communications & Outreach Specialist, Launch Credit
Union, Space Coast Chapter
“This program reinforces that leadership is a journey, and being recognized
as a Rising Leader has motivated me to continue showing up, giving back
and encouraging others to embrace their own leadership potential.”
Leadership Path: “I’m honored to serve on the Florida Public Relations Education
Foundation, supporting initiatives that advance professional development and
educational opportunities for current and future PR professionals. It’s been
a meaningful way to stay engaged with FPRA at the state level and continue
contributing to the growth of our industry.”
